Dreaming Whilst Black series casting announced
The casting has been confirmed the Dreaming Whilst Black series, with Isy Suttie and Peter Serafinowicz revealed as being amongst the supporting cast.
The six-part series, following the story of an aspiring filmmaker, will arrive on BBC Three in July. It follows on from the success of the award-winning pilot episode aired in 2021, which itself was based on the 2018 web series.
Creator Adjani Salmon reprises his leading role from the original web series and pilot, alongside Dani Moseley as Amy. The two are joined by Demmy Ladipo as Maurice, Rachel Adedeji as Funmi and babirye bukilwa as Vanessa, who all also appeared in the pilot.
Also returning to the full series in supporting roles are Alexander Owen as Adam, and Will Hislop as Lewis.
The regular cast will be joined throughout the series by Isy Suttie, Peter Serafinowicz, Roger Griffiths, Martina Laird, Jo Martin, Akemnji Ndifornyen and Steve Furst in recurring roles. Meanwhile Jessica Hynes and Love Island's Ovie Soko will make guest appearances in the series.
Loosely inspired by real life events, Dreaming Whilst Black tells the story of Kwabena, an aspiring filmmaker stuck in a dead-end recruitment job who takes the first step to achieving his dream. However, he is quickly confronted with the tribulations of balancing finances, love, and his own sense of reality.
