Speaking in a radio interview, Paddy McGuinness has teased the idea that he and Peter Kay might reunite one day to make more episodes of Max And Paddy's Road To Nowhere.

Although he emphasised there were no current plans, he did comment "We do talk about it... never say never".

Speaking to Roman Kemp, Chris Stark and Sian Welby on Capital Breakfast, when asked if he and Kay would work together again, he replied: "Well, when we talk about stuff, the like the interesting thing about Max and Paddy, and Phoenix Nights is, now we are kind of all of an age of the people we played back then. But we do talk about it and what have you, but, I don't... I can't, I can't see it at the minute, but we never say never, but it's good to talk."

He then added: "Max and Paddy for instance, we wrote a couple of Christmas specials, and we still got them. And we never got around to doing on for whatever the reason were back in the day. But we've actually got them!"

When asked if he could action the scripts, he said "Yeah, yeah", but then added: "Not really", before noting: "These days I'm inherently lazy. So I like doing as little as possible for as much money as possible."

When asked to clarify, the comedian confirmed the Christmas specials were written, but not filmed. He explained: "The thing is, with anything, if you're doing a scripted comedy show, it does take a long time. [...] So to do something like [this], you have literally got to kind of blank out 12 months of your life and genuinely, at the moment... I mean, [Peter]'s on tour. I've got all kinds of stuff going on, and it's just sort of going 'right, let's get together. Let's get our diaries together. And let's blank out for that time."

However, fans shouldn't get too excited about being able to convince them to film more soon. When the radio hosts prompted that they could encourage people to send in texts pleading for a Christmas special, he laughingly replied: "Won't make a blind bit of difference."

Max And Paddy's Road To Nowhere, which followed the doormen characters from Phoenix Nights, ran for one series on Channel 4 in 2004.

In the interview, McGuinness also revealed how quickly the show's central song came together. "We were like talking about theme tune... 'what should we do?', 'should we get in?' and we'll 'just do it now'. Bit of paper on your knee... he wrote a couple of lines, I wrote a couple lines and then we start putting it together and it is what it is. It goes on for a while that, like the 12 inch version... its mental. There's all sorts of stuff in it."

Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp is on weekdays from 6am - 10am across the UK and on Global Player.
