When Black Wednesday sends yuppies everywhere bolting for cover, there is nowhere for once-affluent Sophie and Mark to run, except to Mark's elder brother, Clem, and sister-in-law Rosie. Clem, a craftsman, and Rosie, and over-charitable psychiatrist, are a happily impoverished couple who now have to play host in their humble house to their once affluent relations.
Mark's high-flying job in the City has crashed along with the Stock Market and times are hard too for former designer Sophie. Sadly, now they start spreading discontent into the once quietly joyful lives of Clem and Rosie, too. The new living arrangement is far from satisfactory on all accounts, but it's only for the time being, isn't it?
