Martin finds himself trapped by Annie Winton who desperately wants him to try and save her husband Jim, who has recently been diagnosed as having terminal cancer.
Louisa is worried about Martin and wonders if the breakdown of their therapy could have led to him deciding to leave Portwenn for good.
PC Penhale drives Louisa up to Winton Farm, where they discover Martin performing a life-saving operation on Jim.
Martin and Louisa are reunited, but is it too late to save their marriage?
