Further details
Bert Large could be the man to put Portwenn on the culinary map. Dissatisfied with his lot in life he abandons his plumbing business to open his own restaurant. But as with Bert's previous enterprises, the new venture is fraught with problems.
The opening of Large's restaurant is far from a success, when Dr Martin Ellingham, who has a phobia about blood, finds a spot of it on his plate. To the embarrassment of Louisa Martin complains to Bert in front of the other customers, threatening a visit from Environmental Health unless he can clean up his act.
To make matters worse for Bert, the following day the surgery is inundated with patients with symptoms of food poisoning, and all claiming to have eaten at his restaurant.
Louisa Glasson has also fallen victim to food poisoning after dining at the restaurant with Martin. The doctor is embarrassed to have to treat her in her bedroom and escapes as quickly as he can having demanded a sample.
