When Lillicrap's owner demands that one of the men has to be sacked in order to save costs, shop steward Norman is quick to pull his men out, and equally quick to decide who it should be let go.

Further details

Arthur is faced with a conundrum: the Lillicrap's owner has demanded he fire someone, as the firm cannot compete with Japanese products' prices. As shop steward, Norman wastes no time in making his own feelings known, and indeed it seems everyone has their own opinion of who should go - with most fingers pointing at Kevin! But what about the colour bar? The last thing Arthur wants is a race-relations incident.

Among those giving O'Grady trouble is Kenny: he has always thought of himself as 'one of the lads', but since O'Grady's arrival, the black Cockney workman finds himself now firmly placed on the 'immigrant' side.
