O'Grady attempts to settle down among his workmates at Lillicrap Ltd., but suffers a severe case of culture shock as he is introduced to the finer points of the English Way of Life by well-meaning factory foreman Arthur Blenkinsop.

In particular, Norman impresses upon him their unionised work ethic, where a man must work at a certain speed - and no faster - and certainly not complete a task outside his own job specification. And then there's Smelly...
