Set in the fictional northern town of Hepworth, this comedy-drama explores the lives of a team of unruly dustbinmen - the so-called 'Supercrew' - who discover that the local council is planning to put out their work to private tender because of their lousy attitude and poor performance.
In a panic over likely job losses, the lads pull out the stops to try to keep the contract for their DOG (Direct Operations Group) council subsidiary, in the face of glossy promises from Belgian outsiders, Propre UK. Among the numerous colourful characters are gloomy veteran Nev; mad driver Foxy; Foxy's son, Jonno; punchy Ken; simple-minded Bernard; student Sunil; and cleansing manager John Parry.
When the lads return for a second series, a new threat hangs over their workplace: property tycoons want to redevelop their yard. Nev has retired after 45 years and is planning to marry gold-digging new flame Irene, while the other guys are involved in new ventures like interior decorating and owning a hairdressing salon. Corruption hangs heavy in the air and the crew do their best to expose it.
