Karen and Adam's double 'date' with their prospective new squeezes goes well but Adam can't resist a few jibes about Dan being a vicar. Socially conscious Dan challenges Adam and reminds Karen of whom she used to be. As Karen's relationship blossoms, Adam struggles to shut out his growing feelings for Karen.

Jenny starts chemotherapy, supported by cancer buddy Charlie - he even encourages her to join the hospital choir. Out wig shopping with Karen, Jenny jumps at the chance to be the face of Karen's new book. Back at home, Pete finds himself in a dilemma when Chloe, terrified her mum is going to die, asks him to formally adopt her.
