Major makes a serious error during an investigation, and Carver struggles with whether to turn him in or not. But when Parfit reveals that if the A.I. Ethics Committee deem the project a failure, Major will be 'switched off' and he'll die for good. With his best friend's life on the line, Carver helps cover for him.
In a bid to help Parfit assess Major's A.I., Kelly asks him out for dinner. The two reconnect, but Major feels betrayed when he susses her ulterior motive. Meanwhile rival cops Gilbert and Ryle are up to no good and Parfit attempts a software update.
