The comedy is set in Birmingham's Sparkhill area, and thus the exterior scenes are all filmed in and around the city.
Creator and star Adil Ray says: "It felt great to be filming the scenes in Birmingham. To meet so many young children and families reminded me why we do this job! It feels like such an important time to be filming a show like ours."
Joe Godwin, Director of BBC Midlands, adds: "For the past four years, Citizen Khan has brought life in Birmingham to BBC One prime time, so it's really great that all the location filming is taking place here in the West Midlands."
in the historic Jewellery Quarter there was even a 'Peaky Blinders' moment with the crew recreating a scene from the Birmingham gangster drama, as Mr Khan clashes with a local family. Here's a selfie from Mr Khan:
Now one of the longest running sitcoms on the BBC, the fifth series will see The Khan family expanding a lot more than just Mr Khan's waistline. We'll meet Shazia's new baby daughter Nadiya (named after the Bake Off queen) and Mr Khan's rebellious niece Shabana in the new series. Plus, as Alia continues her on-off relationship with boyfriend Scab, The Khan's invite over the 'potential' in-laws.
The BBC say: "Add to that a family funeral, a Muslim fun day, a celebrity appearance and flashbacks to the time when Mr and Mrs Khan first got married it's fair to say The Khans could be the busiest family on television this Autumn."
Series 5 will start on BBC One later this autumn.
