The Comedy Awards were in crisis in 2007 as it was revealed in the press that the phone votes during 2005 were not all counted. The ceremony went ahead as normal but ITV opted not to broadcast it.
The awards were back on TV (without the phone vote category any more). Angus Deayton acted as host as Jonathan Ross was still dealing with the fallout from the 'Sachsgate' furore.
The awards moved to Channel 4, with the network bringing in the idea of announcing the nominations via a TV show too. Confusingly, in this year the awards were held at the IndigO2 in January so were in some places were incorrectly labelled as 'The British Comedy Awards 2011'.
The 2012 awards were once again broadcast live from Wembley's Fountain Studios, with dark period sitcom Hunderby picking up two awards and Jack Whitehall crowned the King of Comedy.
