Further details
Billy opens up on what it meant to be a working man in post-war Scotland.
His face completely animated by the memories of the characters and the banter, he paints a picture of those days from his early work as a bread delivery boy through to the shipyards.
Looking back over the years he spent as a welder, Billy talks frankly about how his experiences shaped him as a man and a comedian.
He brings alive a time when the Clydeside was populated with extremely funny people working in testing conditions, and how it was often the quiet guys who were the funniest. The programme is as he says is a celebration of "the wee man, the underdog, the little guy."
His interview, alongside some classic archive, takes viewers through the rites of passage of going through apprenticeship into manhood, and the smells and allure of the pub, and his own 'graduation' into performing in folk clubs and fantastical costumes.
