Tell us about the role you play in Billionaire Boy.

I play Warwick Davis, employed to be the Spuds' butler. Basically, they are so rich that they decide to employ a celebrity to be their butler. Even though I'm not a very good butler, my fame makes up for my mistakes.

How would you be as a butler in real life?

I think I'd be quite good. I enjoy doing housework, hoovering etc, and I cook a lot too. I would fall short on some of the etiquette though.

How does it feel playing yourself in a role?

I played a version of myself in BBC comedy Life's Too Short, so it is something I am familiar with. It's actually quite liberating, saying and doing things you wouldn't usually.

You must need a sense of humour to play yourself as someone who is now a butler to a billionaire?

I love the idea that the Spuds become so wrapped up in their fortune that they don't really know what they are doing. The butler sees things from all sides and tries to keep them in line but can only do so much.

Have you read David Walliams' books with your kids?

Yes. My son, Harrison, is a massive fan of David and his books and we all sit down to enjoy the BBC adaptations every Christmas.

How much did that influence your decision to take the role?

I was offered the role while driving my son home from school, hands free of course. Before I could even utter a response, Harrison shouted, "Yes, he'll do it!". Like the book, the script is wonderful and it was a great pleasure to work with John Thomson and Catherine Tate.

What are you planning at Christmas?

I'll be staying in Bristol, since I am doing panto at the Hippodrome. The family will join me there for a traditional Christmas with turkey and telly. Lovely.
