Following the news Benidorm is to continue, crews are now in Spain filming Series 8 of the show. A new family called The Dawsons are to appear in the 7-part series, essentially acting as replacements for The Garveys who have now flown off for good.

The new family will consist of a granddad, a married couple and their daughter and son. Julie Graham (Being Eileen) will play the mum Sheron, with Steve Edge (Phoenix Nights) as the father Eddie. Josh Bolt (Last Tango In Halifax) is the couple's teenage son Rob, and Honor Kneafsey (Our Zoo) as young daughter Jodie. Former stand-up comedian, Bobby Knutt, probably best known as Albert Dingle in Emmerdale, will play the grandfather who tags along with the family for a holiday in the sunshine.

Also, fans of the show will be pleased to know that Mateo will be back. The barman, played by Jake Canuso, was last seen running off to flee his mother-in-law. It seems he's managed to find his way back to the resort though!

Also confirmed as returning to the Solana are Johnny Vegas and Elsie Kelly as The Oracle and his mum Noreen, and Selina Griffiths will be back too as Noreen's stressed daughter Pauline.

The next series of Benidorm is expected to be shown on ITV in early 2016.

ITV confirm: "The new series, airing in 2016, will have lots of surprises in store for viewers including some great guest stars and a few familiar faces."
