Alma decides it's time to start focusing on herself and her career. She joins a stand-up comedy course ran by her old acting teacher, Ian. Ian is now a comedian and global star after one of his angry videos, ranting about his ex-wife, was thought to be a sketch and went viral. Ian encourages Alma to discover her USP as a comic.
Meanwhile, Joan receives news that her mother, Alma's granny Alice, has died. The wider family made up of estranged siblings Uncle Dickie, Auntie Evie and Auntie Ange gather at Joan's to plan their mum's funeral and come to terms with their own tough upbringing.
At the wake, Alma realises that her eccentric Boltonian family is what makes her unique.
