Long before the end, if the cast had crashed to the floor insensible, the studio audience could have carried the script: "Good moaning!" "Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once!" "You stupid woman!" and, rather a favourite of mine, from the feather-headed Captain Bertorelli "What a mistika to mika!" It was sweet-natured farce and farce is tragedy speeded up.
