Up On Bricks
By: Des Henderson & Mike McCahon
Sitcom Mission 2011 finalist
Up on Bricks is a dialogue and character rich comedy focusing on the everyday lives of four builders and their new boss, Charlie. Together Bob, Phil, Chippy and Sparky explore philosophy, the vagaries of fate and more importantly, whose turn it is to get the teas in?
In this snippet, having faced some tough challenges, such as, re-roofing the Taj Mahal (the Indian restaurant down the road) and completely demolishing the Town Hall (albeit unintentionally) the boys now face their biggest challenge yet… correctly completing their health and safety forms before Charlie gets out of the toilet.
The boys, in their beloved greasy spoon, race against the clock, the wrath of Charlie and their inability to answer the question on 'sex' without sniggering.
Will they complete the forms on time? Will Sparky get over his sci-fi phobia? And most important of all, will they have time to drink their tea before it gets cold?

Des Henderson & Mike McCahon
In 2008 Des and Mike met on stage in a similar manner to the climactic confrontation of Voldemort and Harry Potter (if the dark lord and Harry were in a local pantomime as dame and villain). Finding out that they got on rather well one night over lashings of ginger beer, they realised that that their warped and childish senses of humour were very similar. They decided then and there to form a writing partnership, and www.igloucreative.com was born.
Since forming, thay have had their first pantomime published and performed, and squandered the proceeds on an Indian takeaway for them and their wives. They were chosen as 'Best Adventure Script' by the Writers International Premier Screenwriting Talent, and blew their winnings on a bargain bucket or two. If they win this, they're thinking of going for an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet.
