How To Annoy A Script Reader - Part 8

Monday 8th June 2015

8: Not having a story to tell

a) Too many people sit down to write a film or a play or a sitcom but too few people sit down to write a story. Remedy: watch and read a lot of things that are similar to what you want to do and ask yourself why they work when they work, and why they don't when they don't.

b) People who say their script really gets interesting on page 12. Remedy: make page 12 page 1.

c) Scripts that aren't formatted correctly, for which there is no excuse. Remedy: visit one of the hundreds of websites that tell you how to format a script.
