How To Annoy A Script Reader - Part 4

4. Scripts not being properly formatted!

This is so basic, and so easy to fix. You could have a brilliant story, but if it doesn't look like a script then it tells the reader that you don't understand the medium for which you are trying to write.

Before you even begin to write a script, read scripts (there are many free to download from the BBC Writersroom script library). Your script needs to look like these ones.

To easily do this, download free screenwriting software, Celtx, and it will do all the professional formatting for you.
