- Stand-up and reigning Strictly Come Dancing champion Chris McCausland is writing a memoir he has confirmed
- The currently untitled book will be out 9th October with pre-order now available
- "I'd love to tell you what's in it but we'll wait and see" he said, admitting that he's only just begun writing
Chris McCausland is publishing a memoir this autumn, despite his having only begun writing it a little over a week ago.
The currently untitled autobiography from the stand-up and reigning Strictly Come Dancing champion will be out 9th October, published by Penguin Michael Joseph, which recently put out Miranda Hart's memoir I Haven't Been Entirely Honest With You.
When asked to confirm that he was writing a book on ITV's daytime show This Morning today, McCausland confirmed: "Apparently so ... It's very nice to be asked and it's lovely that they think so many people would want to read what I've got to say."
The former web developer continued: "I said yeah. And then I got all the details through and they went 'well, ok, it's going to be out in October, it goes on pre-order on the 6th of January'. I haven't even done Ctrl N!"
He told presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard that he had, belatedly, commenced work on the book on 27th December.
"I'd love to tell you what's in it but we'll wait and see" he explained, before stressing "it's gonna be funny!"
Michael Joseph publishing director Rowland White acquired world rights to the memoir through Jacob Howe-Douglas at HD Management.
"Like the rest of country, I've been both gripped and incredibly moved by Chris and Dianne's dazzling progress through Strictly" White told trade industry website The Bookseller.
"What had seemed scarcely possible quickly confounded all our preconceptions and expectations. But, of course, Strictly was only the most recent chapter of Chris' remarkable story. I can't wait for people to read it all. It is going to be a huge pleasure and privilege for me and the whole team here at MJ to help make that happen."
McCausland, who just wrote and starred in the Sky Max festive movie Bad Tidings alongside Lee Mack and presented Channel 4's Alternative Christmas Message, recently extended his Yonks! stand-up tour until April 2026 and resumes the show on 17th January at the Walsall Arena.
The book is available to pre-order below in hardback, eBook and audiobook formats.
Chris McCausland - My Story
Strictly star Chris McCausland was a successful stand-up, actor, TV presenter and panel show favourite long before he danced into the hearts of the nation with his ground-breaking performances on the BBC's biggest show.
After growing up in Liverpool and studying software engineering at Kingston University, Chris lost his sight at the age of 22. Forced to rethink his career plans, he worked in sales before applying for a job as a spy at MI5. But, following an appearance at an open mic night in 2003, he turned his hand to stand-up. National Security's loss was comedy's gain. And he promises that his book 'will be really funny'.
