Lee Ridley, also known as Lost Voice Guy, is to release a book in 2019 called I'm Only In It For the Parking.

Transworld publishing has won "a highly competitive" auction to publish the Britain's Got Talent winner's book.

Ridley, who has cerebral palsy and uses a communication device to speak, will base the book around the stupid questions he has been asked about his disability.

The blurb for the book explains: "What's the worst thing about being disabled? Is it the shameless staring? Is it that people assume you're a bit thick because you can't speak? Or is it the fact that your friends always take you to theme parks just so they can jump the queues? In fact, it's the stupid questions people ask that really rile Lee Ridley, aka Lost Voice Guy. And over the years he's been inundated with them by people who have failed to engage their brains before opening their mouths. Which is where I'm Only In It For the Parking comes in - think of it as a disabled FAQ, with funny (sometimes painfully funny) stories from Lee's less-ordinary life."

The publishers say: "If you think you know what it's like to be disabled, prepare to have your perceptions skewered by the much-loved Britain's Got Talent winner, the brilliant stand-up who struggles to stand-up, the Geordie without the accent. And before you ask... no, he really can't speak at all. But he definitely has something to say."

The comedian says: "I'm very excited to be writing my first book. It's something I've wanted to do most of my life, so I'm delighted to be getting the opportunity, especially working with such a great team of people. I'm looking forward to telling everyone a lot more about me and life as a disabled bloke."

Transworld editorial director Andrea Henry comments: "If you think you know exactly how to treat disabled people, and that this book is only for society's idiots, then prepare to have your perceptions skewered. This is a book for you, too. For us at Transworld, I'm Only In It For the Parking feels like the right book at the right time - an enlightening and hilarious exploration of disability, with Lee's brilliant storytelling at its heart. We're really excited to be working with him."

It's a busy 12 months for Ridley. In August he is set to perform a run at the Edinburgh Festival, which has already sold out. He will then set off on his debut UK tour. He is also working on a second series of Ability, his Radio 4 sitcom.

I'm Only In It For the Parking will be released in hardback and eBook versions on the 18th April 2019. It can be pre-ordered via the link below.
