John Cleese signs autobiography deal
John Cleese has signed a deal with publishers Random House to pen an autobiography, it has been announced.
However, fans may have to wait a while for the publication of the 72 year old's memoirs, as no date for publication has been revealed - suggesting it may not emerge until 2014 or later.
After 50 years in the entertainment business, the 72-year old Monty Python star has recently toured his first one-man stand-up show, The Alimony Tour, and been perfectly frank about its purpose: to recoup some of his wealth following a harsh divorce settlement from his third wife in 2008.
Random House say: "From tall adolescent (he was 6' at the age of 12) to giant of the comedy world, John Cleese has led an extraordinary life and enjoyed astonishing acclaim. Now he plans to tell the inside story of how a shy child from Weston-super-Mare, who dabbled briefly with teaching and law, went on to become one of the most feted writers and performers of the past fifty years. His autobiography, like the man himself, promises to be both hilariously frank and frankly hilarious."
Cleese will work on the memoir with Random House Books Publishing Director Nigel Wilcockson (pictured above).
John Cleese Live: The Alimony Tour 2011 is now available to buy on DVD.
