Tim Key is releasing his latest poetry collection this summer.

The former Edinburgh Comedy Award-winner, currently engaged in US publicity for the film The Ballad Of Wallis Island, in which he stars alongside co-writer Tom Basden and Carey Mulligan, publishes L.A. Baby! on the symbolic 4th July.

The volume is once again designed and illustrated by Key's long-time collaborator Emily Juniper and put out through her boutique publishing house Utter & Press.

Key spent autumn in Los Angeles, writing and starring in the upcoming mockumentary The Paper, a spin-off of the US version of The Office for the Peacock channel about a struggling Midwestern newspaper, also starring Domhnall Gleeson, Gbemisola Ikumelo and Alex Edelman among others, "and stayed sane by writing poems and talking to Emily Juniper on the phone".

L.A. Baby!'s blurb says that "she then did the honourable thing and designed this stuff, lovingly filling the pages of a beautifully-sized green book. Amongst the glitz and glamour of twenty-first century Hollywood, we can view Key's crazy adventures and infinitesimal moments of loneliness. A hymn to laundrettes and dive bars, a come-and-get-me plea to Audrey Hepburn or frankly any of the greats.

"This is Key and Juniper's fourth book and, judging by how emotionally and creatively reliant they are on one another these days, there will be another four coming down the tracks."

Key's previous books with Utter & Press are 2020's He Used Thought As A Wife (An Anthology Of Poems And Conversations From Inside), Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush (An Anthology Of Poems And Conversations From Outside), published in 2022, and Chapters from 2023.

He previously put out The Incomplete Tim Key through Canongate Books in 2011 and two volumes of verse and other writing through defunct comedy producer The Invisible Dot.

His new collection coincides with the latest books from his fellow participants in cult online game No More Jockeys. Alex Horne's first children's novel, The Last Pebble, is published on 3rd July, while Mark Watson's 10th novel, One Minute Away, comes out a fortnight later

The Ballad Of Wallis Island is released in UK cinemas on 30th May.
