A recording of a show by alternative comedian The Iceman, titled The Final Block, is now available to download.

Anthony Irvine, who performs as The Iceman, became notable in the 1980s for his performances in comedy clubs. His act involves creatively melting large blocks of ice while delivering puns over a soundtrack of tightly-looped music.

Irvine re-surfaced in recent years as online interest in his old act grew. Melt It! The Book Of The Iceman, a publication exploring his unique act, was published in 2023.

The new performance, recorded in 2024 by Go Faster Stripe, was originally scheduled to last 30 minutes but came to a halt early when The Iceman poured a bucket of water over himself and his microphone in its initial moments, requiring immediate technical intervention. The final edit clocks in at 40 minutes, "having removed most - but not all - of this technical intervention".

Producer Chris Evans, who makes an unusual appearance in the show, says: "Some of the recordings we've released over the years have been narrowly averted disasters. This one's a little on the other side of that line."

Anthony Irvine comments: "The Iceman was grateful to have the opportunity, in the form of a highly academic lecture, to make everything crystal clear about his Block Life."

In the absence of any contemporary video recordings of Irvine's act, this performance was primarily recorded to provide B-roll for Mark Cartwright and Robert Wringham's forthcoming documentary, Melt It! The Film Of The Iceman. Featuring interviews with the likes of Stewart Lee and Jo Brand, the film is planned for a cinematic release in early 2026.

Robert Wringham remarks: "The Bill Murray [venue in London] show was a dream come true. We finally coaxed this legendary performer out of retirement for one last melt. Did he deliver? In buckets."

Mark Cartwright adds: "I bloody love GFS and we are thrilled to be collaborating with them on this. After 18 months of working on this project, I can't explain my happiness to finally see a live Block! Chaos, Confusion, Explosions and even a couple of real jokes!"

The Iceman - The Final Block is available to download now from gofasterstripe.com for £10. It is also being gifted to all active GFS Club subscribers.

Producer Chris Evans says: "Everyone I know that has an interest in comedy knows about The Iceman. Few had seen his act in the flesh, but everyone knew about his work.

"And his work was the stuff of legend. But could it be true that his act was to cart around an enormous block of ice and attempt to melt it whilst reciting terrible ice based puns?

"Well two brave fellows attempted to find out. They wrote a book and are putting together a film documentary.

"Whilst preparing for this, they discovered no contemporary footage of The Iceman. And that's where I came in. I offered to record a show by The Iceman bringing everything up to date.

"Here's a little word of warning - I appear in this show. Some of the recordings we've released over the years have been narrowly averted disasters. This one's a little on the other side of that line.

"I'm not sure what else to say about this show. I think you'll know if you want to watch it or not. Maybe watch the trailer first before you spend any money..."
