Acclaimed comedy drama series about the rivalry between two society ladies, based on the books by E F Benson. When George Pilson is struck down by a mystery illness and becomes a recluse, Lucia decides to investigate only to discover he has shingles - so she lets him recuperate at Grebe. Lucia dips her toe in the waters of the stock market and her shares pay out big dividends, persuading other Tilling residents to follow suit and make a profit. Mapp and Lucia decide to stand against each other in the local council elections.

Series 2, Episode 2: Change And Change About.
Neither Mapp nor Lucia's bid to become a local councillor bears fruit. Mapp thinks she is pregnant and finds herself in dire financial straits after she and Benjy lose their investment in a mine. Lucia proposes that they switch houses to help Mapp out, and Lucia then gets excited thinking she has discovered Roman artefacts buried at Mallards. However they are not as old as Lucia had hoped so she holds a garden party to save face, where Mapp's pregnancy reveals itself as something else entirely.
