Richard Griffiths stars as the storytelling Mr Mulliner whose narratives enlist the regular tipplers of the Angler's Rest as participants. One of the Mulliner clan writes tough detective stories but when he inherits the cottage of another family author he finds it haunted by the spirit of all her cloying romantic fiction. Marital bliss seems inevitable.
