The Governor comes into the duty room carrying three potted plants. 'Mushy' is promoted to the rank of 'trusty' - half informer, half junior official - to find out where the 'pot' is coming from. But before long he resigns. The prison staff are desperate. 'Pongo' is bribed with tickets to football matches and other privileges to become the next 'trusty'. But it is too late: 'Pongo' himself is the culprit. The alleged drug turns out to be nothing more dangerous than the leaves of an ordinary potted plant, greased with shaving soap.
