At first, it seemed as though the notion of kicking off a whole night with a comedy show was doomed to failure: it's bad enough seeing poor old McKenzie with his poor old Swingometer for the 99th time without having to hear the 99th joke about it also. Yes, Janet Brown does an eerily accurate imitation of Mrs Thatcher. But whoever it is that does Callaghan, doesn't. He seems a difficult man to imitate.
