Comedy legend June Whitfield talks to radio drama director Enyd Williams about her long career in radio, spanning over 60 years.
As part of the three-hours of programming, June picks some of her very favourite radio performances for listeners to enjoy. From her big break on radio joining the team of Take It From Here in 1953, through working with comedy greats including Ronnie Barker, Frankie Howerd and Bob Monkhouse, and to being cast as BBC Radio 4's Miss Marple, June reveals her insights from working with many of the British comedy greats over the last 60 years, and she discloses how she developed her all-important gift of comedy - her... timing.
Along the way listeners find out what makes June laugh, what makes her cross and why, after 60 years, radio still remains her true love.
The line-up of programmes includes: Take It From Here (first broadcast 24 April 1957); Crowther's Crowd (7 December 1963); The Frankie Howerd Show (7 August 1966); Punch Line (21 May 1980); The News Huddlines (19 October 2000); and Murder At The Vicarage (28 December 1993).
