Rosie Burns (Prunella Scales) is the manager of her own Brighton-based events management company, In Any Event.
Rosie has both her family and her business to deal with. She raised her granddaughter Jo (Rebecca Callard) because Rosie's daughter Kate (Arabella Weir) was working abroad. Meanwhile In Any Event's accountant Bob (Duncan Preston) is in love with Rosie, but his love is unrequited. Also working for the firm is Tess (Annette Badland), the subject of office gossip, mainly around her never-seen partner Kevin.
