Semi-Circles [...] is about a trendy young middle-class couple living next door to a working-class family. Simple snobbery, therefore, of a predictable and familiar kind, but what is notable is how out of date, even for this particular genre, the attempts at humour are. The trendiness of the young couple is exemplified by a stripped pine kitchen and china tea; the next-door neighbour is a sort of nosey old Cockney charlady, hallowed in sitcoms since the days of ITMA.
