O'Kane And Co is a improvised half-hour comedy series featuring Irish comedian and actress Deirdre O'Kane confronting a variety of female subjects with a bit of help from her friends.
In this pilot episode, Deirdre is joined by actress Jackie Clune as they consider the subject of having a baby in hospital. As mothers of two and four children respectively, they both have personal experience of this challenging and sometimes controversial subject. While Deirdre has visited hospital twice, giving birth to a girl and a boy over four years, Jackie Clune had a daughter first and then gave birth to triplets from which she's only just recovering now - many years later.
The two of them discuss their collective experiences while relaxing in Deirdre's kitchen and after numerous stories they are also joined by comedian and broadcaster Rowland Rivron. Rowland has also experienced the joys of three sets of childbirth in three different hospitals; and gives a very different comic perspective to Deirdre and Jackie's children's births.
During the half-hour show, listeners eavesdrop on three funny, engaging people who share their - perhaps recognisable, certainly laugh-out-loud - memories of having children.
