Radio 4 announces six topical comedy specials

Radio 4 has announced six topical comedy specials to air in its Friday night slot this summer.

Rachel Parris hosts The Newsmakers, a spoof news show for Radio 4, in which she delivers her views on the week's news stories and then talks to those at the centre of them, from journalists and MPs to yacht-attacking orcas, all of whom are played by comedians. Recording later this month, the pilot features Rosie Holt, Michael Spicer, Bilal Zafar, Emily Lloyd-Saini and Sam Pamphilon.

Dawn French stars in Cornish sketch show Wosson Cornwall, coming to Radio 4 next month. French joins a cast that includes Edward Rowe, Joanna Neary and Tamsyn Kelly, with the writing team featuring Morwenna Banks, Paul Kerensa, James Henry and Max Davis.
