Jojo Sutherland has landed her debut Radio 4 special.

The comic is recording her "very personal" 2019 show, Riches To Rags, at the Monkey Barrel comedy club in Edinburgh on 16th January, with the special scheduled to air in August.

Sutherland, who grew up in a castle with aristocratic parents but has experienced challenging times since, told British Comedy Guide that the show is "a story about the class system and my place within it and the consequences of how different it all would've been given different circumstances!

"Also, let's just say that the release of [ITV drama] Mr Bates Vs The Post Office may have opened the eyes of many people to the lengths people will go to, to protect a brand or reputation! The timing of this feels very good and I'm very excited."

Sutherland released a YouTube special last month, Growing Old Disgracefully, and previously recorded an unreleased version of Riches To Rags at the Monkey Barrel in 2021 as a trial run for the venue's newly installed recording equipment.

The new special is produced by Kurt Brookes (Troy Hawke: Sigmund Troy'd, Don Biswas - Neurotopical) for Made In Manchester (Scott Bennett: Stuff, The Likely Dads).

Brookes said: "Made In Manchester and I are really proud to bring Jojo's Riches To Rags to the mass audience of Radio 4 because it's funny and shocking in equal measure and a great story that needs to be heard to be believed. And once you've heard it you still might not believe it! Working with Jojo to help adapt the show for radio has been a delight and I look forward to everyone hearing it when it goes out in the summer."
