Stand-up comedian Don Biswas is to record a Radio 4 special.

Neurotopical will focus on how having learning difficulties has impacted on his life.

The special is described as follows: "Politically charged gag merchant Don Biswas looks at how having learning difficulties has shaped his worldview. After being sacked from various jobs after university, Don realised he had been living with undiagnosed dyspraxia (coordination and organisation problems), mild Asperger's and ADHD. But he noticed how many people with the same difficulties were marginalised from society, such as having their benefits sanctioned. This made Don become a champion for the small guy. Also, at the same time Don discovered stand-up, a great place to air his political views. Not working fulltime gave Don more time to think about what was really going on in the world we live in. Join Don on his unique journey from a run of the mill graduate to becoming a political activist and award-winning comedian."

The special will be recorded by Made In Manchester in April, for broadcast on the station later in the year. The production company has also just completed recording Series 2 of The Likely Dads for the station.

Producer Kurt Brookes comments: "Made In Manchester couldn't be happier about getting Neurotopical commissioned by Radio 4 because not only do we get to work with the great Don Biswas but it shows that the network trusts us with their airtime beyond the other series we produce for them, The Likely Dads. This is Made In Manchester's first foray into this strand and I'm really glad we're making it with Don; he's a pleasure to work with, a thoroughly nice guy and, most importantly, a bloody funny comedian."

Biswas says: "I'm really excited with anticipation about recording my debut special with Made In Manchester for Radio 4 and bringing my political jokes and observations on what it is like living with learning difficulties, while coming from a traditional middle class Indian family, to a wider audience."

The special will be recorded at Manchester's Frog and Bucket comedy club on Wednesday 13th April. Free tickets
