BBC Radio Wales renews Bravo Two Charlies
- Police-based sitcom Bravo Two Charlies is to return to BBC Radio Wales for a second series
- Writers Martin Trenaman and Matt Lees say "The stakes are higher this time"
- Series 2 will be broadcast in Spring 2020
Bravo Two Charlies, the sitcom focusing on police officers in North Wales, is to return to BBC Radio Wales for a second series.
The recommission comes following the popularity of Series 1, which was broadcast in January. Producers Giddy Goat Productions confirm: "The programme proved popular not only in Wales but across the UK, with the show being one of the most downloaded Radio Wales programmes on the BBC Sounds app."
Bravo Two Charlies, which follows three North Wales police squad cars on "their far-from-routine shifts", is written by PhoneShop and Inbetweeners star Martin Trenaman (pictured) and TV and radio script writer Matt Lees.
The writers say: "We're delighted that the grown-ups upstairs at Radio Wales have let us send our Charlies out on another six shifts. The stakes are higher this time - there's going to be a high-speed chase, a love story, a dramatic rescue, a wedding and a kidney."
Trenaman is joined on the cast list by Rhys ap Trefor, Laura Dalgleish, Rhian Green, Sion Pritchard, Simon Holland Roberts and Sarah Breese.
The second series of Bravo Two Charlies will be recorded this autumn, to air on BBC Radio Wales in the spring of 2020.
Producer Steve Doherty comments: "We're so happy to be making shows about north Wales in north Wales. This series we aim to record on location in Llandudno."
Lees and Trenaman add: "We can only hope the real North Wales Traffic Police never pull us over. We promise you our MOT is up to date and PC Cushion is not based on any of you."
