Sally Phillips confirmed as curator of The Museum Of Curiosity 12
- Sally Phillips will be the curator on Series 12 of Radio 4's The Museum Of Curiosity
- Six new episodes of the panel show hosted by John Lloyd will be recorded soon, for broadcast in early 2018
- Sally Phillips says: "I couldn't be more thrilled to be the next in a long line of distinguished sidekicks"
Radio 4 has confirmed that Sally Phillips will join host John Lloyd for the twelfth series of The Museum Of Curiosity.
Each episode of the Rose d'Or award winning show sees three panellists joining the host and a 'curator' to submit an item which fascinates them into the Museum's imaginary wings. Donations so far have included Helen of Troy, a bubble, the urge to press red buttons and the smell of coffee.
The Smack The Pony and Clare In The Community star will take on the role of 'curator' when the new series is recorded in October, following in the footsteps of previous assistants, who have recently included Romesh Ranganathan, Jo Brand, Noel Fielding and Sarah Millican.
Phillips has previously appeared as a guest on the show. In the last series she donated yarn-bombing, in the form of a "museum cozy", to the fictional institution.
Sally Phillips says: "I couldn't be more thrilled to be the next in a long line of distinguished sidekicks to the wonderful Mr John Lloyd and on such a brilliant show. Museum Of Curiosity is as mind-blowing as it is hilarious and it has long been a career goal to work with John, the only non-Finn who has both won BAFTAs and written a dictionary of place-names in Finnish."
John Lloyd comments: "Sally is one of my all-time favourite comedy performers and I'm looking forward, as usual, to being much less funny than the latest of a long line of distinguished and delightful curators."
The six-part new series will begin recording at the BBC Radio Theatre from Friday 6th October (free tickets) for broadcast on Radio 4 in early 2018.
