Kayvan Novak to make The Celebrity Voicemail Show
Radio 4 has ordered a new series from Kayvan Novak.
The Celebrity Voicemail Show will see the Facejacker star impersonating celebrities as he imagines the voicemail messages left on famous people's phones.
The BBC confirms: "The Celebrity Voicemail Show is an entirely fictitious comedy show written, improvised by and starring Kayvan Novak in which he imagines what it might be like to hear the answerphone messages of the rich and famous.
"Each episode centres around the voicemail of a particular celebrity as we hear the messages their agent, taxi driver, co-star, grandparents etc leave for them. A story emerges through the messages they leave, as well as through the background conversations in the messages."
Kayvan Novak will voice all the characters in the show himself.
There are no official details yet on which celebrities will form the backbone of the stories in the series, however The Radio Times has suggested that the first episode will be based around the account of Sherlock and Cabin Pressure star Benedict Cumberbatch. The listings magazine adds that other potential subjects include Barack Obama, baker Paul Hollywood and Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling.
The Celebrity Voicemail Show will be broadcast on Radio 4 in the 11pm slot from September.
Kayvan Novak rose to fame via the 2006 voice-based Channel 4 prank show Fonejacker. His recent projects have included the BBC iPlayer pilot Parents' Evening, and BBC Four sitcom Asylum, the latter of which he co-created as well as starred in.
Novak's next project is Sun Trap, a comedy series about an undercover reporter who must flee to Spain. The sitcom, which co-stars Bradley Walsh, is due to start on BBC One soon.
