So On And So Forth get Radio 4 sketch series
Up-and-coming sketch comedy group So On & So Forth have won a series commission from Radio 4.
The troupe - comprising of writer-performers John Sheerman, Nick Gadd and Martin Allanson - will make a four-part sketch show for the station. The commission follows a successful pilot programme, recorded in June 2014.
The series will be recorded in front of a live studio audience in London in April 2015, where the group will be joined on stage by versatile comedy character actress Alison Thea-Skot.
So On & So Forth have been building a reputation on the live comedy circuit, and online via their YouTube channel. One of their creations was selected as video of the week on Comedy Central's hit US show Tosh.0, delivering a quarter of a million hits to their YouTube channel.
The group have previously had some of their sketches showcased on Radio 4 as part of Sketchorama.
Radio 4 commissioner Caroline Raphael says: "I knew as soon as I saw their live show this time last year that they would work well on Radio 4; their carefully written sketches, surprising situations and exceptionally fine versatile performances also happened to be extremely funny!"
The group themselves say: "We are so excited about having our own series on Radio 4. As milestones go this is a weighty one. We are busy writing new material and can't wait to unleash it on an unsuspecting Radio 4 audience."
So On & So Forth will be produced by Glasgow's The Comedy Unit. Producer Gus Beattie comments: "I'm delighted for So On & So Forth. They worked so hard on their pilot and they've reaped the rewards with a fully deserved series commission."
The series will be broadcast in Radio 4's 11:30am slot in the summer of 2015.
