Miles Jupp's BBC Radio 4 sitcom, In And Out Of The Kitchen has been given a three-part TV series on BBC Four following a successful pilot.

Filming for the television comedy, a third radio series of which will launch on Radio 4 next month, is due to commence after Jupp finishes his stand-up tour in April.

In And Out Of The Kitchen stars Jupp as Damien Trench, a gay, neurotic, anxious cookery writer from Queen's Park, London, who is spending the year writing a food diary. The series, which started in 2011, takes the form of his diary entries, in which he writes about his chaotic everyday live as well as giving out recipes of each dish he makes.

In an interview with comedy website Chortle, Jupp said that the TV series would be "based on radio ones but we've done much more storylining work, because on radio things can be more character driven, whereas with the television ones you need to make sure you have three or four plotlines up and running".

He continued: "I'm writing them from scratch but hopefully we'll be able to include some things from the radio. The challenge for the TV one is making it as atmospheric as the radio. It's easier to be atmospheric on the radio because you can have sound effects recorded close to microphones. But you need to be cleverer on telly."

Radio producer Sam Michell will also oversee the TV series, and Jupp told reporter Jay Richardson that he hopes Mandie Fletcher (Blackadder, Blandings, Only Fools & Horses) will direct the single-camera style comedy series.

Casting details have not been announced but Jupp hopes that as many of the cast as possible will make the transition to television. The radio series features Justin Edwards as Damien's partner, Anthony; Philip Fox as publisher Ian Frobisher; and Brendan Dempsey as Mr. Mullaney, an Irish builder working on Damien and Anthony's new extension.

Jupp confirmed that he would continue to write new radio series alongside the TV version. Series 3 of In And Out Of The Kitchen begins at 11:30am on Monday 3rd February.
