Further details
Writer and journalist Victoria Finlay talks about the colour purple, which she claims is one of the world's most endangered colours. Homework is often today marked with purple pens because it is less threatening than red. She donates some purple cloth created by rotting murex snails.
Stand-up comedian Simon Munnery discusses the Church of England, and examines the difference the church and Jesus - which he does while performing in the voice of Michael Caine. He donates the smell of warm, wooden pews in St. Mary's Church in Stoke Newington at dawn.
Naturalist and film maker Alastair Fothergill discusses hydrothermal vents, which are akin to gigantic chimneys in some of the deepest parts of the ocean, which are able to support life without needing energy from the sun. Alastair donates a hairy angler fish, the only example of it being in the Natural History Museum.
