Gallery 9, Episode 1 - Meeting Fifty

Professor of Ignorance John Lloyd is joined by his latest curator Noel Fielding as The Museum of Curiosity opens its ninth gallery. Offering the first donations are comedian Nish Kumar, professor of experimental architecture Rachel Armstrong and the composer Howard Goodall.

Further details

Howard Goodall, composer, creator of hymns and the writer of the themes for Blackadder, The Vicar of Dibley and QI, donates to the Museum the pantalon, a now extinct musical instrument, akin to the piano but with no keys. It was popular for 100 years in France and Germany.

Rachel Armstrong, professor of experimental architecture at Newcastle University and TED fellow, and who has a passion for what she calls "living architecture", offers up a witch bottle, charms that were meant to channel out badness in the Middle Ages. She offers it up as a way protecting things that are of importance to us.

Nish Kumar, presenter of Newsjack, half of the double act Gentlemen of Leisure with Tom Neenan, and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, gives a copy of the Bob Dylan album Blonde on Blonde, which marked the change in Dylan's career. It was the time when he started working with bigger backing-bands which annoyed his fan base.
