Spring Day to host next episode of Radio 4's 13 Million Club

Monday 13th January 2025, 7:47pm

Spring Day

The third edition of Radio 4 stand-up showcase The 13 Million Club will be hosted by Spring Day.

The format, which launched in 2020, is named after the report by Scope which revealed more than 13 million people in the UK identify as having some kind of disability; yet 50 percent of British adults say they don't know any disabled people.

"The Thirteen Million Club is a bold, ballsy backlash against this tendency - a stand-up showcase which shines a light on large pockets of the country we don't hear from enough - either on the radio or anywhere else."

The producers say: "Following two successful previous outings on BBC Radio 4, the first-ever show to feature exclusively disabled performers is back, this time hosted by sharp and sassy American transplant Spring Day (Live At The Apollo, Jerk).

"A mixture of stand-up, current affairs chat and anarchic messing-about puts you in the hands of some of Britain's funniest comic performers and invites you to see their world as you probably never have before. A show which reflects the lived experience of disabled people, through the prisms of a diverse range of brilliant acts (some renowned, some being introduced for the first time), and which is also tailored to the needs of a disabled audience - while opening up their world to the many of us who hardly know it at all."

The episode will be recorded at The Backyard Comedy Club on Tuesday 18th February, with the line-up due to be revealed nearer the time. Free tickets
