In which the simple solution is not always the most obvious...or helpful...or correct.

Further details

Dirk Gently has the solution to the murder of Gordon Way, the reason that Richard MacDuff behaved so bizarrely burgling Susan Way's flat merely to retrieve an answering machine message, the means by which an Electric Monk arrived on Earth and the origin of the horse in Professor 'Reg' Chronotis's bathroom.

But in order to put everything right he must gamble on Michael Wenton-Weakes - or rather the entity that possesses that sad individual - telling the truth. Subsequent events interconnect a long-forgotten ship in Earth orbit, a frustrated poet in late 18th Century Britain and one of history's most prolific composers as Dirk, Richard and the Professor set about putting things straight without creating further havoc.
