The Cowards are a four-man sketch troupe who shun comedy caricature in favour of understated, naturalistic performance. Through their characterisations of small people in small situations, the team create a self-contained world that allows the laughs to emerge from their characters.
From Little John and Friar Tuck accusing Robin Hood of hooliganism, to Mike the ant who worries that he can't carry enough leaves to impress the girls, it is comedy of quirky discomfort and wry, left-field observations.
The format of the programme is very simple, with no running jokes, no repeating characters and no catchphrases - just the Cowards' unique take on the world in a series of laugh-out-loud-funny, stand-alone sketches.
