2017, Episode 9 - Grand Final

The successful comedians from the semi-finals in Edinburgh go through to the final, broadcast live from the BBC tent at George Heriot's school. Mark Watson hosts the evening as the six finalists compete to be crowned the winner of the BBC New Comedy Award 2017.

Further details

The finalists for 2017 are: Aaron Simmonds and Sikisa, both from London; Jacob Hawley from Stevenage; Andy Field from Crawley; Morgan Rees from Wales, now living in Bristol; and Heidi Regan from Newcastle in Australia - now a London resident.

London-based Yumna Mohamed from Johannesburg in South Africa originally made the final, but had to withdraw at 48 hours' notice.

Yumna said: "Unfortunately a family emergency has meant that I have had to fly back to South Africa at short notice. This really was the best comedy competition experience I have had, and I was very proud to get into the final. However I have to make this difficult decision and wish my fellow finalists the best of luck.'

After careful consideration, head judge and BBC Studios Executive Editor for Radio Comedy Julia McKenzie selected Rees as a wildcard finalist from the remaining contestantsto replace her.
