Series 2, Episode 3 - Monday Monday
Whilst Helen starts to pressurise Patrick to look for work, Joe and Maria are exhausted from the lack of sleep they've suffered from Josephine's sleepless nights.
Further details
Joe and Maria feel tired and worn down because Josephine isn't sleeping through the night.
Moira is offended that Billy won't give her a lift, even though he's not going in her direction. He doesn't see the problem with a grown woman walking the streets in broad daylight! He says she never used to want to go anywhere near his van and they remember going to discos together.
Moira asks Billy to come round and look at one of her old people's boiler, she also explains that she is acting manager and hopes for promotion. However, spending some time with the people she helps soon changes that! In the meantime, Moira asks Patrick to do a mock interview so she can practice. Moira and Mr Ward decide that the best way to ensure Billy does the work is to lock him in the flat.
Helen tells Patrick that he needs to sort himself out and get some work. She tells him he's been 'lollygagging' and shamelessly wasting a year. He retaliates by telling her that she'll probably storm out in 'highdudgeon!' Having both used words that never appear in a serious conversation, they agree that he has to start looking for work again.
Patrick accidentally offers to look after Josephine for the night! He struggles to find the right time to tell Helen and Joe is also having doubts. He struggles to leave her, without discussing the possibility of war and leaving photos with Josephine. He makes sure he tests Helen's ability to change a nappy before he lets her go fro the night! Having taken a year off from teaching to decide what to do, Patrick decides that the only thing he can do is teach!
