Joe and Maria discover a new pub has opened by the old swimming pool and the competition causes them to try some fresh ideas. After a 'serious brainstorm', Billy and Patrick stumble home in the early hours of the morning; Billy with a curry to try and entice Moira, and Patrick to the sofa because the stairs were 'too complicated'!
Helen has put Billy onto a six day week and Patrick drunkenly agrees to host the old ladies Bingo night for Moira. Whilst Patrick tries to work out a way to get out of the Bingo, Maria and Joe upset their regulars by trying to make the pub young and trendy.
Moira puts her foot in it when Helen arrives home early and Patrick is still trying to earn her forgiveness for not arriving home before 10pm the night before. Helen helps Maria and Joe out by hiring the pub for a business conference, but as it clashes with the Bingo it upsets Moira. After a bout of nerves hit Joe hard, Helen takes advantage of Patrick's new found skills. Everything comes to a head when no one can work out how Helen's businessmen and Moira's old ladies can both use the pub (and Patrick) at the same time, until Helen offers her diplomatic skills. The lads think back to their childhood when the fake Irish pub has to close because of a leak at the swimming pool.
