Bonus cryptic question

Feeling brainy? BCG's Ian Wolf likes devising additional, obfuscated brain-teasers as an extra challenge. See if you can work this one out. You'll find the answer in the next quiz.

If a Christmas dinner table tradition is followed by jewels for a Scottish flower, blood, a return trip to Yorkshire, a poker hand and something left to you by an amphibian, what fruit should be next?

Last week's cryptic question

A wetland grass in an area of a hospital; a south-east London district and an auction house; and a monarch deposed gloriously matched with a puppet. Why do they go together so well?

Kate Emmett, Kirsty Harrison and Marcus Noonan were the three clever readers to crack this one.

See the answer

This is about comedy couples.

The wetland grass is a reed and the hospital area is a ward... pointing to comedians David Reed and Danielle Ward.

The area of south-east London is Lee and the auction house is Christie's... Stewart Lee and Bridget Christie.

James II of England (James VII of Scotland) was deposed in the Glorious Revolution, and the puppet is Sooty... so, bit of a leap this one, but that links Elis James and Isy Suttie.
